Polio drops not administered due to naxal terror
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Feb 11 (UNI) Polio drops could not be administered to children in more than 100 villages in tribal-dominated Bastar division of Chhattisgarh as a part of pulse polio campaign yesterday due to naxal terror.
A health department spokesperson said health officials could not reach remote areas in 62 villages in Bijapur, 50 villages in Dantewara and 27 villages in Narayanpur districts.
However, children put up in more than 14 relief camps in these areas were administered polio drops.
More than 40 villages are situated on the Dornapal Jagarguda road in Dantewara district. Naxalites carry out landmine blasts, tiffin bomb blasts and other incidents along this road.
Vehicles and traders for weekly markets do not take this road.
