Kathmandu Feb 11: The Nepal government has decided to implement reservation in recruitment to all State establishments, including the army to ensure equitable participation of marginalised communities like Madhesis.

A meeting of the cabinet held at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's official residence yesterday decided to ensure proportional participation of the deprived communities in police, army and public enterprises, state-run The Rising Nepal reported. There will be an arrangement of 45 per cent reservation for endogenous nationalities, Madhesis, women, Dalits, marginalised and backward groups in all the public services, Home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula said.

He said that the government decision opened the door to implement policy in all the ministries.

The cabinet meeting discussed 51 different issues as it was held after a long gap due to ill health of Prime Minister Koirala. The cabinet has decided to proceed with distribution of relief and financial assistance to conflict victims.

''Our main agenda is Constituent Assembly election and all the ministers should work giving election a top priority'' Mr Sitaula quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
