Lamber, Gadhav to lead Mah in national cross country championship

Pune, Feb 11 (UNI) International Swati Gadhave of Pune and ace long- distance runner Bhau Lamber of Sindhudurg will lead Maharashtra women and men's teams respectively in the National Cross Country championship, to be hosted by Goa Amateur Athletic Association, at Goa on February 16.

Gadhave had represented the country in the Asian Cross Country championship held at Amman in Jorden recently.

Maharashtra, one of the premier affiliated units of the country's governing body the Athletic Federation of India (AFI), dominated the 13th Federation Cup Cross Country Championship held at Nagpur, winning the overall team title in both men and women's sections respectively. It will once again be the favourites at the Goa meet.

Maharashtra Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) secretary general Pralhad Sawant, while announcing a strong 58 member state contingent here today, expressed the hope that the state will once again come out with flying colours.

Following are the teams : Men (12 km): Devdan Singh, Parshuram Bhoi, Maruti Dolas, Bachitar Singh, Lingappa Sargar, Deepak Kumar.

Men (4 km): Ashok Kumbhare, Pranjal Gogai, Amit Kumar, Champat Lal, Nemichand, Gurusevak Singh.

Boys (Under 20): Bhau Lambar, Abid Ahmad, Sandeep Tayade, Anil Pawar, Prashant Surve, Balu Nimbekar.

Boys (Under 18): Ranjit C K, Shankar Marke, Atwa Bhagat, Balu Maharnar.

Boys (Under 16): Shakti Singh, Paramjit Singh, Naresh Kumar, Mohan Thaware.

Women (8 km): Vijaymala Patil, Vaishali Chatare, Anuja Bijagre, Neesha Wankhede, Shalan Kakade, Sushma Bele.

Women (4 km): Jyoti Gavate, Anupama Patil, Dimple Naidu, Amruta Mane, Seema Akhtar, Kanchan Talware.

Girls (Under 20): Monika Raut, Swati Gadhave, Manisha Salunkhe, Reshma Dalvi, Manjula Patil, Indutai Maragale.

Girls (Under 18): Asmita Ghanekar, Ashwini Morghare, Ragini Bele, Monali Mokase.

Girls (Under 16): Jyoti Jadhav, Janabai Hirve, Meenal Taktode, Sneha Pharsole.
