Gold at a record peak: BBA

Mumbai, Feb 11: Gold prices registered an all-time high, closing at a record peak of Rs 11,895 per ten gm today and Silver hit a two-year high of Rs 21,675 per kg.

Gold moved up by Rs 70 per ten gm and Silver by Rs 175 per kg from their previous close, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association (BBA) said. The upward trend will continue as marriage season was around the corner, traders opined. Gold (99.9 variety) resumed upward at Rs 11,845 per ten gm while pure gold (99.5 purity) was also firm at Rs 11,900 per ten gm. Later, standard gold and pure gold rose further and closed at Rs 11,895 and Rs 11,950 per ten gm respectively.

Gold has gone up by Rs 490 in the last five days. Silver (.999 fineness) resumed high at Rs 21,610 per kg on increase of fresh demand from local dealers. Later, it inched up further and closed at Rs 21,675.

In the last five days, silver has moved up by Rs 570.

Following were the spot silver and gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade: Rs 21,675 (21,500) Gold (per 10 gm) Standard mint 99.5 purity: Rs 11,895 (11,825) Pure gold 99.9 purity: Rs 11,950 (11,880).
