Bangalore, Feb 11 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today announced formation of a high-level committee to look into the woes of sugarcane growers in the State.
According to a Rajbhavan communique issued here, the Committee comprises of sugar cane growers and Advisors to the Governor, Chief Secretary and the Finance Secretary.
The Committee would look into the problem and suggest suitable remedial measures.
Mr Thakur also directed that the Committee should meet during the course of the week and arrive at a suitable decision to alleviate the sufferings of sugar cane growers in the State.
Earlier in the day, during the meeting held under the chairmanship of the Governor, the representatives of Sugar cane farmers associations and farmers associations had put forth new issues leading to formation of the Committee, the communique added.
