Talking to UNI here today, Inspector General of Police (North Eastern range) M V Murthy said hundreds of Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals were overstaying in the region, especially in the communally sensitive Gulbarga, Bidar and Raichur districts.

''The SIT will trace the whereabouts of such people,'' he added.

Mr Murthy said the SIT would keep a vigil on the movement of strangers in all the sensitive areas.

Referring to a report in a TV channel that the fugitive terror suspect Dr Ahmad Baig Mirza was arrested here, the official said the local police did not have any information on his arrest.

''The Hubli and Davanagare terrorist cases have been entrusted to the Corps of Detectives. They investigate and arrest the suspects on their own. At the moment, I do not have any information on the arrest,'' he added.
