Children administered pulse polio drops in HP

Shimla, Feb 10 (UNI) Children below five years were administered pulse polio drops across the state in the 5,000 booths set up in nine districts of Himachal Pradesh in the second phase of the campaign today.

An official spokesman told UNI here that since the campaign was likely to continue for another few days, the total number of children administered the polio drops would be disclosed later.

The administering drops to children below five years in three tribal district of Chamba, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnuar had been resechudled following heavy snowfall in these districts during the last few days, he said.

He said polio drops would now be administered to children in Chamba on February 24 and in Kinnaur on March two, while the one-day pulse polio campaign in Lahaul Spiti would be held sometimes towards end of this month or early next month.

Earlier, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal launched the campaign in Kullu town by administering polio drops to children there.

Health Minister Rajiv Bindal and several other important people were also present on the occasion.
