Centre not providing me SPG cover: Maya

Bhopal, Feb 10 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today alleged that, despite her repeated letters, the Centre's Congress-led regime was not providing her Special Protection Group cover as it could not stomach her party's expanding mass base.

''Intelligence agencies have perceived a threat to my life. If anything happens to me, the Congress will be directly responsible.

In such a situation, people of the Bahujan Samaj must never forgive the Congress,'' she said while addressing a massive gathering of BSP workers during the party's Madhya Pradesh-level Sarvasamaj Bhaichara Banao Maharally at the Lal Parade Ground here.

Claiming that she would not permit attrition of the respect and wealth that she had received, Ms Mayawati added that an assassination attempt was made on her on June 2, 1995.
