Washington, Feb 10 : Burt Reynolds is set to star in a British comedy, 'A Bunch of Amateurs.'
The actor will play a washed up Hollywood action hero named Jefferson Steel in the movie, to be directed by U.S. comedy director Andy Cadiff.
The plot revolves around Steel, who is out of work, and in desperation tries to revive his faltering career by taking on the role of King Lear in a British theatre.
He shows up only to discover it's an amateur drama group in the middle of nowhere, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
Reynolds joins Imelda Staunton, Derek Jacobi and Samantha Bond in the cast, which is shooting for six weeks on location on the Isle of Man and in and around the British capital.
Oscar- and BAFTA-winning producer David Parfitt, who scored plaudits with "Shakespeare in Love," is producing the movie penned by Jonathan Gershfield, John Ross and acclaimed British comedy writers and political satirists Ian Hislop and Nick Newman.
