Bride, 6 others killed in road accident

Theni, Tamil Nadu, Feb 9 (UNI) Seven people of a marriage party, including the bride and two children, were killed on the spot and as many seriously injured, in a road accident at Andipettikanavai in the district this evening.

The deceased were identified as bride G Hemalatha (21), R Gita (34), S Rangasamy (86), M Sarvesh (7), M Sanjeevi (4), G Suresh (27) and P Elangovan (38).

They were proceeding to Kambam from Madurai for the wedding to be held tomorrow, when their Sumo car collided with a lorry, police said.

The injured were admitted to the Government Rajai Hospital at Madurai.

Top police officials rushed to the spot. The accident had disrupted traffic on the busy Andipatti-Madurai High Way for about two hours.
