Hyderabad, Feb 9 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today urged Governor N D Tiwari to intervene in the investigation into the death of a student, who was allegedly raped and murdered on January two at a hostel in Vijayawada.
A delegation, led by party state unit president Bandaru Dattatreya, submitted a memorandum to the Governor in this regard.
The parents of deceased Ayesha Meera, a pharmacy student, had rejected ex gratia offered by the government and demanded 'justice' in stead, he claimed.
The BJP said in the memorandum that Vijayawada Commissioner of Police had indicated about 'political pressure', which was posing hurdles in arresting the assailants, though they were identified.
He urged the Governor to intervene in the case and summon the authorities concerned to submit a progress report on the investigation.
