1 cr children given pulse polio vaccine in AP
Hyderabad, Feb 10 (UNI) About one crore children up to the age of five were administered polio vaccine in the second round of pulse polio immunisation in the State today, an official release stated.
Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari administered the polio drops to children at Raj Bhavan.
Nearly 6.5 lakh children were given the vaccine in Hyderabad District.
According to an official release, 3,200 polio booths were arranged across the twin cities.
The vaccine administration will be carried out on the next three days with house-to-house visits by programme officials to cover children who missed getting the vaccine today.
As many as 12,800 personnel from various government departments, women's groups, NGOs and other organisations have been drafted for the programme, it added.
Mobile teams were deployed to cover construction labourers and migrant workers.
