Technical, Engg institutes seats to go up to 1 lakh: Hooda

Rohtak, Feb 9 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the seats in technical and engineering institutes in the state would be increased to one lakh in next two years so as to provide ample opportunities to the youth.

The Chief Minister, who was addressing the Chhotu Ram Jayanti Samaroh organised by the Jat Shiksha Samiti here said the number of seats in technical and engineering institutes had already been increased from 23,000 to 53,000 during last three years.

Mr Hooda also launched a scathing attack on those who had earlier tried to keep Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram in the background saying ''during last few years those who ruled the state, adopted all kind of gimmicks to popularise the name of their own father''.

Mr Hooda also paid rich tributes to Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram and said while following his high ideals, the state government had given priority to expansion of quality education facilities as the Deenbandhu had himself, played an important role in promotion of education, especially in rural areas.

Mr Hooda also announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh from his discretionary fund for the educational institutions of the society.

He also assured every possible help to the Samiti from the state government.

Later, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones of a Rs 25.88 crore Trauma Centre, Rs 11.48 crore Mother and Child hospital and new wing of Rs 5.39 crore Dental College in PGIMS, Rohtak to provide better medical facilities to the patients as well as commencing of new super specialities courses.
