Puducherry, Feb 9 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Puducherry today demanded that the government bring out a white paper on the financial position of the territorial administration.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the working committee meeting of the party here yesterday.
The party pointed out that while it was stated in the annual plan meeting that several schemes could not be implemented due to paucity of funds and adequate funds were not available for constuction of government medical college, Chief Minister N Rangasamy denied any financial crisis. Therefore, the public had every right to know the real position.
Another resolution urged the administration to inform the public pertaining to the proposed government medical college for which Rs 234 crore was initially allocated. There was an apprehension in the minds of public that the medical college would not come up.
Other resolutions urged the government to waive agricultural loans of farmers, steps to curb price rice for essential commdities and construction materials and provision of relief to affected handloom weavers following cancellation of orders for free garments scheme, were adopted in the meeting, party state president G Sundaramurthy said in a statement here today.
