Kidney racket mastermind brought to Delhi, taken to CBI HQs
New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) Two days after hius arrest in Nepal, kidney scam kingpin Santosh Raut alias Amit Kumar was this evening brought to Delhi on an Indian Airlines flight from Kathmandu.
The accused arrived here on flight IC 814 at around 1900 hrs and was immediately frisked away from the prying eyes of the media, escorted by a team of CBI officials.
He was expected to be brought out from the Indira Gandhi International Airport's Exit No II but was later taken away from Haj Terminal to escape media glare, according to airport officials.
From the airport, Amit Kumar was taken to the CBI headquarters where his questioning is likely to begin soon.
Earlier in the day, Amit Kumar was handed over to the CBI by Nepalese authorities in Kathmandu, two days after his arrest in the Himalayan nation.
The mastermind behind the multi-crore human organ scam was arrested on Thursday from a Sauraha hotel in Chitwan district, about 60 km from the Indian border town of Raxaul.
The medic was handed over to a CBI team in Kathmandu. The Nepal government said it would proceed with the cases against him in the Himalayan nation after his trial in India.
The kingpin was extradited after India took up the matter of his deportation with Nepal yesterday.
After the matter was formally transferred to the CBI yesterday, the agency approached the Government of Nepal through the Embassy in Kathmandu for handing him over.
