Chennai, Jan 9 (UNI) The stage is set for the new racing season for Formula cars as the 11th edition of the J K Tyre National Racing Championship gets underway at the modern race track at suburban Irungattukottai tomorrow.
The concept of the championship was designed to take the motorsport at the forefront with international level of formula car racing.
The new format of the national championship, which has grown to be India's premier motor sport championship, is all set to revolutionise the sport.
Apart from the regular races in the Formula Rolon and Formula LGB Swift classes, for the first time ever, endurance races in Indian formula racing has been introduced.
Titled the JK Tyre National Enduro Championship, this event would be held with Formula LGB Hyundai vehicles. The race would be of 90 minutes duration with two drivers per car and each driver could drive not more than 22 minutes at a stretch.
Among the teams in the fray were the duo of Ashwin Sunder and Gaurav Dalal, and Narain Shankar and Karthik Shankar from Team Rams Racing, Sudanand Rajan and Prithveen Rajan from Team WSRF, Shankar Narayanan and Saif Mir and Mahesh and Narasimharaju from Meco Motorsports.
