Fine slapped on officer for failure to provide information

Patna,Feb 9 (UNI) The State Information Commission today slapped a fine of Rs 18,000 on an information officer of the Bihar Building Construction department for failing to provide information to an applicant.

Official sources here said an applicant Shailendra Singh had sought details about a particular matter from the information officer of the Building Construction department but he was not provided the same despite several reminders.

When it was brought to the notice of the State Information Commission, its member P N Narayanan took strong exception to the slackness and slapped a fine of Rs 18000 on him.

He also directed the officer to place the details before the information commision on February 15 and the process of realisation of fine from the erring officer will continue till then if he failed to comply with the directive.
