Dr Amit to be handed over to India : Paudel
Kathmandu, Feb 9 (UNI) Kidney racket kingpin Dr Amit Kumar would be handed over to India before his trial in Nepal, Minister for peace and reconstruction Ram Chandra Paudel today said.
''We have received request from the Indian government and Kumar will be handed over to the Indian authorities as soon as possible,'' The Himalayan Times quoted Minister Mr Paudel as saying.
The government will study the Interpol red corner notice and hand over Dr Kumar to India, he said.
The senior minister, however, did not specify when the mastermind behind the multi-crore kidney racket will be extradited. However, it is learnt that the government is preparing to hand over the medic to Indian officials soon.
The Indian government has requested Nepal to hand over Dr Kumar, who was arrested from a resort in Chitwan on Thursday evening.
Nepal Police said it was preparing to file a case against him on charges of violating foreign exchange rules as police seized a huge amount of Indian currency, euros and dollars from him.
