Darbhanga, Feb 9 (UNI) Aggrieved with ''unsavoury remarks'' about pious ''Chhath'' by Maharashtra Navnirman Samiti president Raj Thackeray, people celebrated the festival at Harahi Pokhar under University police station in the district.
President of the Shastri Yuva Sangathan Sishir Kumar Jha said here today that womenfolk of the Harahi village observed ''Chhath'' on Wednesday evening to protest the remarks of Mr Thackeray describing the festival as ''drama''.
The devotees also prayed to the Sun God and ''Chhath Maiya'' for enlightening the inner conscience of Mr Thackeray to desist him from making such kind of remarks about ''Chhath'', celebrated with full devotion and dedication in the Hindi heartland of the country, he remarked.
Describing Mr Thackeray and his followers as ''anti-nationals'', Mr Jha said this kind of noble protest would instil good sense in him and he would refrain from making such remarks hurting the sentiments of the people and disturbing the amity and peace among people from different regions.
