Shillong, Feb 9 (UNI) After sharing power for five years, the United Democratic Party (UDP) today said supporting the Congress-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government was a ''big blunder''.
'' With a good intention regional parties had agreed to work with the Congress. But this is a mistake, '' UDP president and Deputy Chief Minister Donkupar Roy said while kicking off his party's election campaign here.
Terming the Congress-led government as ''unfriendly government'', Dr Roy said the government had failed to venture into people-related policies, which would benefit the people of the state by using its own available resources in the state.
'' Neither have the industrial and power policies of the government satisfied the people of the state nor has the government found a solution how to manage the resources for the benefit of the state, '' he said.
He further claimed that many projects initiated by the Congress government failed due to its bad planning.
Former Meghalaya Finance Minister-turned UDP adviser S D Khongwir assured that the UDP would also work tirelessly to fight against corruption in the state, if voted to power.
'' We mean what we say and we will do it, '' Mr Khongwir stated.
