Sambalpur, Feb 8 (UNI) Lawyers from Western Orissa will gherao Orissa Assembly on February 13, the opening day of the budget session, to press the state government for establishing a permanent bench of Orissa High Court here.
''We are now mentally prepared to face any consequence during the Assembly gherao,'' said Sirish Ballav Mishra, the convener of the core committee of the advocates.
He said all the 16 members of the core committee from ten districts were present here yesterday to chalk out an action plan.
The lawyers of Western Orissa were on agitational path over the past several months demanding a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in Western Orissa.
Mr Mishra said the ''indifferent'' attitude of the state government had forced lawyers to resort to the bold step to gherao the state Assembly.
The state government, he alleged, was yet to place a proposal before the Union Government for establishment of the High Court bench.
The core committee had also decided to urge all the MPs, MLAs and Ministers of Western Orissa to extend their moral support for the cause.
The lawyers of Western Orissa would boycott the courts on February 13 in view of the agitation, Mr Mishra said.
