Kanpur, Feb 8 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has urged the district administration to allot the famous Green Park Stadium here for staging the third test match between India and South Africa.
''An application to book Green Park for 10 days with effect from April 6 has been sent to district administration,'' Prem Dhar Pathak, the secretary sports administration of UPCA, told UNI here today.
''After the permission, UPCA will to have to deposit Rs 50 lakh as rent of the stadium,'' Mr Pathak informed.
He said the last India-South Africa face off took place at the Green Park Stadium in 2005.
''The visiting South Africa team will be arriving 3-days before the match and would like to go for net practise at the stadium,'' he added.
Mr Pathak said the UPCA working committee would likely hold a meeting in the next few days to work out further startegies for hosting the test match.
The Green Park administration has started preparing the grounds and not much work was left, he further informed.
