Train services disrupted on three ER sections
Kolkata, Feb 08 (UNI) Train services were disrupted today on three sections of the Eastern Railways (ER) Sealdah (South) Division as an irate mob obstructed the railway tracks to protest the accidental death of a pasenger.
ER sources said the victim, who was leaning out of a coach of a Sealdah-bound Baruipur local, fell out of the moving train and died on the spot as his bag, hanging from his shoulder, got entangled with a support wire of the traction mast.
Later, an irate mob disrupted train movement at Sonarpur station for about four hours to protest the incident.
Earlier, train services were also obstructed at Ghutiari Shariff station on Sonarpur-Canning section for about an hour to demand the opening of an additional ticket counter which resulted in the delay of two trains on the section.
Besides, some passengers caused obstructions at Magrahat station on the Sonarpur-Diamond Harbour section to demand the running of an additional local train.
As a result of all the three obstructions, a total of 28 pairs of trains had to be cancelled and 12 other trains were detrained enroute for about three hours each on an average.
