Six naxalites arrested in Maknagiri
Bhubaneswar, Feb 08 (UNI) Six naxalites were arrested by the Special Operation Group (SOG) during a combing operation in Kondapali in Malkangiri district early this morning.
Malkangiri Superintendent of Police S K Gojbhiye told UNI over phone that all the six naxalites were later forwarded to the local court, which remanded them to jail custody.
He said one of the six naxalites, identified as Marian Mukta, was acting as an interpreter for the Motu dalam of the naxalite and actively involved in the murder of one Sunam Jaga, allegedly a police informer.
The SP said Mukta accompanied Motu Dalam Commander to Kundapali on January 29 last where they demanded Rs one crore from a stone crusher owner ,who ultimately paid them Rs two lakh.
He said when the police team reached the spot, the naxalites opened fire at the force and in the ensuing exchange of fire one Raju died on the spot, while two naxalite cadre were injured.
This morning during the intensive combing operation in the area, all the six naxalites were arrested and the SOG receovered from them six detonators, 21 gelatin sticks, some wire and two banners against the Naveen Patnaik government.
Mr Gojbhiye said while one of the arrested naxalites was an assistant teacher engaged in writing leaflets and literature, the other one identified as Dr Srijaya Dafadar was a quack, who had even treated Naxalite leader Ashok, injured in exchange of fire on January 29 last.
The so called doctor, the SP said, used to visit Motu thrice in a week to attend the meetings arranged by the teacher with the cadre naxalites.
