Mumbai, Feb 8: The Rupee today ended on a weak note against the US Dollar at 39.625/635, depreciating by more than ten paise form its previous close of 39.50/52 per dollar on weak global cues.
Resuming the day almost flat in early trade, the partially convertible Indian currency, following the flows in the Indian equity market, fluctuated in a wide range-band against the greenback-- between 39.51 and 39.65 per dollar, dealers said. Meanwhile, the forward primia for six month closed lower at 0.74 (1.24) per cent and annualised primia closed at 1.04 (1.28) per cent. The Reserve Bank of India today fixed the reference rate for the US dollar at Rs 39.55 from the previous Rs 39.48.
The Indian unit ended firm at 57.33/35 (57.58/59) against the Euro. However, Rupee closed weaker at 77.07/09 (76.81/82) per unit against the Pound Sterling. The Indian unit ended the day firm at 36.77/78 (37.06/07) per hundred units against the Japanese Yen.
