Hooda pays tributes to freedom fighter Prabodh Chander
Chandigarh, Feb 8 (UNI) The Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today exhorted the people to take a pledge to fulfill the cherished dreams of great freedom fighters and patriots who had made supreme sacrifices for the sake of India's freedom.
The Chief Minister was addressing a huge gathering after paying floral tributes to the great freedom fighter Prabodh Chander on his 22nd death anniversary at Gurdaspur in Punjab which is held as Sadbhawana Diwas.
Lauding the people of the un-divided Punjab, Mr Hooda said that Sardar Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Udham Singh and Madan Lal Dhingra had sacrificed their lives on the altar of their motherland. He said that Lala Lajpat Rai and Prabodh Chander motivated the youth to fight aginst the Britishers.
Mr Hooda said Prabodh Chander was a member of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha and had also made a significant contribution in the construction of historical Bhakra Dam. The Chief Minister added that he was an embodiment of patriotism and sacrifice and served the masses with a missionary zeal.
While referring his political career, Mr. Hooda said that he remained Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Health, Education and Local Bodies Minister and a Member of Parliament from 1971 to 1977.
He said that the son of Late Probodh Chander and Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ashwani Kumar is following the legacy of his father in true spirit.
