The polling will be held on March 3. There are 60 Assembly seats out of which 55 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes. As per the revised electoral roll, over 12 lakh 30 thousand voters are eligible to exercise their franchise. The state chief electoral officer P Naik has said that only few cases of violation of code of conduct was registered which have been referred to the Chief Election Commission.
Out of 1582 polling stations, 635 have been declared hyper sensitive and 194 have been declared as sensitive. Forty companies of central paramilitary forces are to be deployed during the poll.
The counting of votes would take place on March 7. The current term of the Meghalaya Assembly ends on March 10.
