Bangalore, Feb 8: The Centre is negotiating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on going ahead with the nuclear deal with the US, Union Commerce and Industries Minister Kamal Nath said today.

In his address at the India Sourcing Summit here, he said India needed such a deal as the country's energy needs were huge and it could be met by nuclear power only. Atomic energy was environment-friendly and did not contribute to any climatic changes like global warming, he said, adding that India presently needed 50,000 MW of atomic energy.

Mr Kamal Nath said India was emerging as a hub for global sourcing and the Indian market was recognised worldwide as one of the top sourcing markets in every field of economy. ''India is better positioned because of its availability of young work force, besides having a huge domestic market,'' he said.
