Petitioner Arvind Shukla has also pleaded in his petition that appropriate legal action must be taken immediately against Raj Thackeray for delivering inflammatory speeches directed against North Indians, leading to violent attacks on the people from Bihar and UP and also on people belonging to other parts of North India.

Even Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan was not spared and his residence in Mumbai was attacked by the goons of the MNS chief. The petitioner has also prayed to the apex court to direct the Union government to interfere in Maharashtra so that situation in other parts of the country does not take a violent turn in retaliation to what is happening in the commercial capital of India. In the meantime, advocate General of Maharashtra in his report submitted to the state government has recommended the arrest of Raj Thackeray for creating a wedge between Maharashtrians and North Indians. The petition is likely to be mentioned in the Supreme Court tomorrow for urgent hearing.
