Karnal, Feb 7 (UNI) The Haryana Police has nabbed Dharmender alias Bhinda, brother-in-law of suspected mastermind behind the attack on Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's convoy, from his village Ganga Nagar in Lakhmirpur Khiri district of Uttar Pradesh, police sources here today stated.
Bakshish Singh, owing allegiance to the Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) had planned the bomb explosion on the convoy of the Dera head in the district last week. The attack left two persons injured, with the Baba having a narrow escape.
The Haryana police raided Ganga Nagar village in search of Bakshish Singh, who used to take shelter in this village of his in-laws. The police took into custody Dharmendar for questioning as during investigation it came to light that about six months back Bakhshish had taken his brother-in-law alongwith him to Punjab.
Meanwhile, investigations by the Forensic Science Lab (FSL), Madhuban has revealed that break failure of the truck used in the attack could be the reason for the failure of the attackers to hit their target.
FSL officials said that Mohinder Singh, driver of the truck became jittery when he found that the brakes of the truck had failed. In panic he triggered the blast, hitting the 'wrong' vehicle in the convoy of the Dera chief.
The details of Mohinder's cell phone has revealed that he had been in constant touch with Bakhshish Singh before the blast.
Mohinder Singh and the cleaner of the truck were arrested soon after the explosion.
The explosives were packed in the spare wheel of the truck and were detonated when the Baba's convoy drew alongside.
