Tripura prepares transfer list as per EC order
Agartala, Feb 6 (UNI) The Tripura election department has sent a transfer list of administrative and police officers to the Election Commission as per an order of the EC.
Chief Electoral Officer GSG Ayyanger said, ''If an official is staying in his home district for more than three years, except for the west district, he cannot play any role in election process.'' ''So we prepared a transfer list and sent it for approval. Already 13 IPS and TPS officers, including two DIG rank police officers, have been transferred. Now a transfer list of 125 police officers, comprising mainly inspector and sub inspector rank officers, will be issued after getting approval from the Election Commission. At least, 20-25 civil administrative officers will also be in the transfer list. The whole process would be completed within a few days,'' he said.
Meanwhile, a person has been arrested and produced before court for snatching electoral photo identity card.
A detailed information would be available soon, Mr Ayyanger said adding ''However, in some cases, it has been proves that the EPIC had been snatched by some militant outfits. One person has been arrested and produced before the court in that connection.'' He also assured that the Commission will make alternate arrangements for those whose EPICs were snatched.
Tripura is going to polls on February 23.
