Traffic violators to shell out more in City Beautiful
Chandigarh, Feb 6 (UNI) Chandigarh Administration has enhanced the penalty charges for various traffic offences to ensure public safety.
The hiked fine would be applicable from the date of notification, expected to be issued shortly.
Composition fees for offence under section 177 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 minimum penalty of Rs 100 has been increased up to Rs 300. Under section 179, i.e. disobedience of challaning office, the penalty has been enhanced to Rs 800 from Rs 500.
Under section 183, Motor Vehicles Act the punishment price money for over-speeding has been enhanced to Rs 700 form Rs 400.
The amount of penalty has been doubled to Rs 1000 from Rs. 500 for racing on the roads.
Composition fees for the offence of unauthorized interference with the vehicle, under section 198 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 has been enhanced fourfold to Rs 400, from Rs. 100. This will be applicable to bigger tyres then specified and change in vehicles body.
