Shylla challeges KHADC Chairman on his removal
Shillong, Feb 6 (UNI) Sacked Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member H S Shylla today filed a writ petition in Shillong bench of Gauhati High Court against Chairman Martmalin Pyrbot for holding a special session ''unconstitutionally''.
Yesterday, Mr Pyrbot convened a special KHADC session, which voted to oust Mr Shylla from his post.
''I have moved the Court against the unconstituional holding of yesterday's special session,'' Mr Shylla told reporters here after filing the writ petition, claiming that the chairman has breached the Assam District Council Rules 1951.
Meanwhile, Cleophas Banteilang Syiem of the Congress was elected as the new CEM uncontested after he filed his nomination today.
Syiem enjoys the support of all 29 members in the 30 member Council.
