Baripada, Feb 06 (UNI) A Special Operation Group (SOG) team engaged in combing operation escaped unhurt during a landmine explosion triggered by the Maoists near Jampani village yesterday.
Police here today said the blast took place just after the SOG team crossed the site in their motor cycles.Soon after the incident the combing operation was intensified in the area to flush out the Maoists.
Meanwhile, an eight member Special Operation Group (SOG) team had an encounter with the Maoists yesterday at Kankdabeda-Chadheipahada Road under Gorumahisani police station limits, about 100 kms from here close to the Jharkhand border.
Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar said that the encounter took place when the SOG team was engaged in combing operations in the area.
The Maoists first fired from their forest hideout while the SOG team retaliated. None were injured on either sides in the encounter, the SP said.
