JDP stages road blockade in support of Thackeray
Jamshedpur, Feb 6 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray received a shot in his arms from an unexpected quarter when Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) took to the streets supporting the former to demand preference of locals over outsiders.
JDP supporters led by party chairman Salkhan Murmu blocked Tata-Chaibasa road at Karandih near here today demanding ouster of Biharis from the police department and implement domicile in the state.
Hundreds of JDP activists squatted on the road, throwing the traffic out of gear for hours. The agitators showed placards and shouting slogans against police personnel from Bihar and recruitment of Adivasis and Moolvasis in the police department.
The JDP also demanded implementation of domicile act, which rocked the state in 2002 but it could not be implemented as the then chief minister Babulal Marandi opposed the act.
Mr Murmu told UNI that he supported the sentiment of MNS supremo but not in favour of the on-going vandalism indulging in by his supporters in Mumbai. Locals should be given preference in all states.
Its a crime if the outsiders snatch the rights of the local people, Mr Murmu opined.
