CM calls on Vice President, explains schemes
Hyderabad, Feb 06 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today called on Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, who is on hid first visit to the state after assuming office.
The Chief Minister apprised Dr Ansari of the welfare projects initiated by his government.
Dr Reddy also explained in brief the various programmes of the state government for ensuring the welfare of the minorities and weaker sections.
He informed the Vice President about the massive irrigation works under the ''Jalayagnam'' taken up by his government along with the ''Indiramma'' housing scheme launched in three phases.
The Chief Minister told the Vice President that Andhra Pradesh was the first state government to implement exclusive 4 per cent reservation in jobs and admission to educational institutions particularly the professional courses for Muslims.
Dr Reddy also told Dr Ansari that Andhra Pradesh government was committed to protect not only religious freedom but also the economic interests of minorities.
