Chennai, Feb 6 (UNI) With Hemang Badani's brilliant score of 112, Chennai Superstars defeated Kolkata Tigers by six wickets in the 12th match of ICL 50s here.
Winning the toss Kolkata Tigers elected to bat and put on 311 in 50 overs. Subhomoy Das along with captain Deep Dasgupta put on 104 runs partnership for the second wicket to take Kolkata to a safer position after their horrid start, with opener Paryiz Aziz out in the fourth over scoring eight runs.
Subhomoy Das, who struck a fine 80 of 81 balls including five fours and one six, was the star of the Tigers innings. Deep Dasgupta with 52 in 62 balls gave him strong support.
After the fall of these two wickets in quick time, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and Rohan Gavaskar made another huge partnership of 93 runs, to take the score past 260.
Gavaskar struck 61 off 64 balls, including three fours and two sixes, while Jhunjhunwala struck quick fire 39 off 40 balls. The stand out bowling performance for the Chennai Superstars came from Hemang Badani who took 2 for 38.
In reply, Chennai Superstars lost their opener Hemant Kumar on the score of 34 in the fourth over. R Satish, along with opener V Devendran put on 22 runs for the second wicket. R Satish 42 off 37 balls, hitting seven boundaries.
The Superstars were 101 for the lose of three in the 15th over.
Then came in Hemang Badani, who along with V Saravanan made a partnership of 209 runs. Bedani, who was declared man of the match struck a massive 112 off 94 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. V Saravanan was unbeaten on 107.
