Palakkad, Feb 6: Normal life was affected in the district following the BJP sponsored day-long hartal today to protest against the police action in charging six RSS activists under the Goonda Act, which they termed as ''politically motivated.'' Public and private transport were off and only two-wheelers were seen plying on the roads.
Government offices and other private establishments reported minimum attendance and most of the shops remained closed.
Apart from stray incidents of stone pelting on two lorries coming from Tamil Nadu, the hartal was by and large peaceful, police said.
Almost all the educational institutions were closed.
The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operated a convey service to Coimbatore in the morning.
