UN Sec Gen lauds India's help Assistance to Nepal
New Delhi, Feb 5 (UNI) The United Nations has lauded India for providing assistance to Nepal and supporting the world body's efforts across the South Asian region, officials said here today.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement that India had played a vital and long-standing role in helping the people of Nepal and also in supporting the efforts of the United Nations across the South Asian region.
India presented 1200 vehicles, 14,000 communication equipment and some ambulances to Nepal in January end. The consignments were presented to Nepal's Home Minister by the Indian Ambassador to the Himalayan Kingdom on January 26.
''India is an important partner in the region and we appreciate very much the unfailing and long-standing assistance and support that India has provided to the United Nations and, more importantly, to the people of Nepal,'' Mr Ban Ki Moon said in the statement issued by his spokesperson.
