Rohit Sharma fined for showing dissent

Brisbane, Feb 5 (UNI) Middle order batsman Rohit Sharma was fined 10 per cent of his match fee after showing dissent during the second match of the Commonwealth Bank tri-series against Sri Lanka here today.

Sharma was stood his ground after adjudged caught behind by South African umpire Rudi Koertzen on a Muralitharan doosra which appeared to miss his bat.

Match referee Jeff Crowe found the 20-year-old Indian batsman guilty of dissent under rule 1.3 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct.

Crowe said dissent was discussed in detail with all three teams before the start of the tri-series. The fine is understood to cost Sharma 400 dollars.
