Aurangabad, Feb 05 (UNI) Stressing on organised effort for poverty alleviation, former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today urged the people to unite in the mission.
Speaking in a function here Mr Shekhawat said poverty is a menace which gives birth to several evils in the society. We need an organised effort to check this menace through peaceful means and not by violence, he added.
He maintained, if we honestly put our efforts against poverty, we will definitely be able to solve the problems of livelihood and other basic needs of 26 crores people living below poverty line. He further said, we can only fulfill our dream of a developed nation by reducing the gaps between the haves and havenotes.
He also added that our freedom fighters sacrificed their lives against the tyranny of ''British Raj'' so that the people's rule or true democracy could be establist in the country bringing greatest happiness to the gretest number of people by setting up an egalitarian society.'' We must unite to fulfill the dream of the great sons of the soil by paying tribute in the form of poverty alleviation'' he said.
