North East is always neglected: Sharma
Mumbai, Feb 5 (UNI) Veteran filmmaker from Manipur Padmashree Aribam Syam Sharma said the Northeast is budding with creative talents but devoid of adequate resources and infrastructure to nurture them.
Addressing mediapersons, after inaugurating the special package of Northeast films at the Mumbai International Film Festival here today, he said, ''Cinema is solely a creative medium and a form of art and there should not be any grouping to it in context of region.'' Chairman of Indian Documentary Producers Association (IDPA) and an eminent filmmaker from Northeast India, Jahnu Barua also expressed similar views echoing the sentiments of Mr Syam Sharma. He said Northeast has plenty of creative talents who are always neglected. He even blamed the media for not giving the region its due publicity.
''Everytime, we have to remind everyone that we are here,'' Mr Barua added.
