Infant among three killed in Kishtwar road accident

Jammu, Feb 5: Three people, including an infant, were killed and four others wounded in a road accident in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir last evening, official sources said here today.

A tipper, which was on its way from Kishtwar to Dool skidded off the road and fell into a 200-foot-deep gorge near village Buniwa, official sources said, adding, ''Three people, including a three-year-old child, died on the spot, while four others got injured in the mishap.'' The police and locals launched a rescue operation and shifted the victims to the government hospital at Kishtwar, where the doctors declared three of them brought dead, sources added.

The deceased had been identified as Mehraza of Kishtwar, her three-year-old daughter and Naseema Begum, resident of Beerwah, while the injured were Ashiq Hussain and Alla Rakha (driver), residents of Beerwah and Irfan and his minor daughter, residents of Nagni Kishtwar.

Meanwhile, three of the critically injured were referred to the government medical college hospital, Jammu, for treatment.
