Chargesheeted accused in Bihar flood relief scam surrenders
Patna, Feb 5 (UNI) Nidhi Jha, a chargesheeted accused in the multi-crore rupees flood relief scam in Bihar, today surrendered before a special Vigilance Court, which remanded her in judicial custody till February 7.
Ms Jha, known to be an associate of the alleged kingpin of the scam Santosh Kumar Jha, surrendered before designated Judge S K Panwar and prayed for a regular bail.
The Judge, after hearing, however, refused to grant bail to Nidhi and sent her to the Beur Central Jail under judicial custody.
The case was related to misappropriation of several crores of rupees in connection with the flood relief work in north Bihar in 2004.
According to the charges, Nidhi was booked for her alleged involvement in misappropriating huge sum of government fund for flood relief in connivance with Santosh, the main accused in the case.
Nidhi was evading arrest for long and her anticipatory bail petition was earlier refused even by the Supreme court.
