ACB nets five govt officials on corruption charges

Hyderabad, Feb 5 (UNI) The Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have arrested five Andhra Pradesh Government officials, a Sub-Inspector, a Tahsildar, Revenue Inspector, Mandal Revenue Officer and Village Servant on the charges of corruption.

According to an official release here today, Kundurpi police station Sub-Inspector P V Narayana was caught red handed by ACB officials today when he accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant to do an official favour.

He was arrested and the amount was recovered from the ground in front of a house near the police station where the accused officer threw away the currency after seeing the ACB officials.

In West Godavari district, Chagallu Mandal Tahsildar D Koteswara Rao was trapped by the ACB yesterday when he accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour.

The Revenue Inspector of the same Mandal G Durga Nagenra was also trapped by the ACB when he accepted a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the same complainant to do an offcial favour.

The Revenue Inspector in turn handed over the bribe amount of Rs 500 to Village Revenue Officer Sita Sundari and Rs 1,500 to Village servant Shaik Madina of Kuluvapalli village.

The amount was also recovered from their possession.

They would be produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases, the release said.
