Zubkov on way to become Gazprom chairman
Moscow, Feb 4 (UNI) Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov and the Trade and Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina were approved today as members for the new board of directors of the country's largest oil and gas monopoly Gazprom.
The Gazprom press service said the company's shareholders will gather on June 27 for their annual general meeting. The shareholders will appoint a 19-member board of the monopoly.
Zubkov is also the top candidate to be elected as the new chairman of Gazprom's board, replacing Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who is the front runner in the presidential election scheduled for March 2, media reports said.
