Gorakhpur, Feb 4 (UNI) Reviving the memories of '1922 chora-chori', which is considered to be a milestone of freedom struggle, a ceremonial function to pay tribute to its martyrs was organised here on its 86th anniversary today.
''Chora-Chori incident was the turning point from where seeds of Satyagrah movement were sowed,'' BJP former MP and former deputy army chief Lt Gen Prakash Gani Tripathi said.
''We should be proud to have the opportunity to pay tribute to the brave martyrs,''he further said.
While paying tribute to the martyrs, Union Minister for Khadi Udyog Mahabir Prasad called people to get inspired by their sacrifice.
He also visited the museum at the premises.
Prominent among those present were Legislative Council Member Ganesh Shankar Pandey, MLA Madho Paswan and District Panchayat president Chinta Yadav.
Large number of people assembled at the ceremonial site to remember martyrs on its 86th anniversary.
