Star TV to be boycotted in Upper Assam
Guwahati, Feb 4 (UNI) Star TV's alleged arbitrary hike of rates against Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) regulations has prompted cable operators in Upper Assam to boycott the channel, beginning tomorrow.
Cable Operators Association, Assam, (COAA) at a meeting in Dibrugarh yesterday, decided to switch off Star package across Upper Assam due to alleged illegal arbitrary hike of rates.
The COAA claimed that Star TV had asked for hike by 20 per cent from the operators, threatening to cut off the signal if they failed to pay up.
The cable operators pointed that the TRAI had banned the ''arbitrary'' hike in rates, but Star TV had increased the prices without any reason. They appealed the consumers to cooperate during the boycott.
