Mumbai, Feb 4 (UNI) Shalinitai Patil, president of Kranti Sena and rebel NCP MLA from Koregaon Taluka in Maharashtra, today criticised party chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar for not taking care of his portfolio as many farmers had committed suicide in the state.
Ms Patil, who is in the city for a convention on reservation and farmers'issues to be held tomorrow, said since farmers in the state are committing suicides, the Minister had failed in his job and should introspect the problems faced by them.
Ms Patil and Chhawa Sanghatana chief Annasaheb Jawale will address their followers, who have come from the interiors of Maharashtra, and demand reservation on the basis of economic situation rather than caste-based politics.
''The government should stop issuing caste certificates as it will slowly end the problems of caste,'' said Ms Patil.
Mr Jawle said the government should waive off the electricity bills of the farmers and help them.
''The government had promised free power and now they (the government) are betraying them, hence we have collected more than a lakh of electricity bills that will be submitted to it,'' said Mr Jawale.
The relief packages for farmers was a farce as the politicians would benefit from them, he said, adding, if the government wanted to help them, then the loans and the power bills should be waived off.
