Ludhiana, Feb (UNI) Punjab Information and Public Realtions Minister Bikram Singh Majithia has stated that the state government was going to launch its new sports policy soon, under which excellent facilities, latest equipment and improvement of stadiums for the promotion of sports would be ensured.
The SAD-BJP government had decided to open the recruitment for the sport persons in police, Mr Majithia said while addressing a rural gathering on the concluding day function of Sports tournament organiszed by Panchayati Raj Sports Club at village Bhanaur 12 km from here last evening.
Suitable jobs up to DSP levels and financial assistance ranging from Rs 5 lac to Rs 1 crore to the players, as per their achievements at national and inter national competitions would be extended, he said.
Mr Majithia said that to provide international level training facilities 1600 sports wings were being set up in different parts of the state and the budding players would be selected at the primary school level and continuous coaching would be provided in the sports academies to nurture them as national and international level players.

The Minister said that with a view to ensure proper playing facilities the youth, the state government has planned to set up Sports Clubs in all the 12000 villages of the state and grants of Rs 50,000 each would be given to these clubs every year.
The Minister announced a grant of Rs 3 lakh for the sports club.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated newly constructed Mata Gujri Community Center and a library in the village.
